The Second Miler
Leading the Way by Following Christ
Creating Right Change
Proverbs 23:7 - For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his
heart is not with thee.

As an American, I am proud of our nation as a whole, and in particular, of most of its history.
Yes, there are things that have been done in the history of our nation that should not have
happened, and other things that should have happened.  That which happened before my
lifetime, and on a broader scope, that which happened before I became a Christian will have no
impact on my judgment when I stand before the Lord.  BUT, those things in our nation’s history
that happened after my conversion, I will be held to a certain level of accountability, for the Lord
has commanded that I should pray for our leaders.  By my own confession, I have not always
done so.  However, I have learned now, am aware of my prayer responsibilities, and take them
very seriously, as should the whole of the Church, especially in this crucial hour of history.

There are those, and among them former chiefs of state for our nation, who would have one
believe that different parts of one’s life can be compartmentalized, and kept separate from one
another.  This simply is not truth or reality.  Regardless of our place in life, especially if we are in
leadership, we cannot say to those we lead, to those for whom we should be an example, “Do
as I say do; don’t do as I do.”  As a Christian, you are an example to someone; an influencer of
someone.  Therefore, as Christians, we should all endeavor with all that is within us to live lives
that are right before the Lord.  And as we grow in the Lord, as we come to places in life where we
realize we need to change, we need to model that change before those we lead.  Once again, it
is not right, moral, ethical, or holy to command what we are not willing to live out and
demonstrate.  If I see that someone I lead needs to make a change, I need to be able to model
that changed life before him.  If I cannot model that change, I become a blind leader of the blind.
The Christian MUST model the change he expects to see in others.  So go today enjoying the
change that you are by faith in Him.
