The Second Miler
Leading the Way by Following Christ
Praying the Amen!
2 Corinthians 1:20 - For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of
God by us.

Revival doesn’t JUST HAPPEN.  Neither does anything else worthwhile in this life, and that includes
all the good, and right, and holy, and just things of God.  SOMEBODY has to DO SOMETHING.

And in the realm of God’s kingdom, a part of that something is always connected to prayer.  And not
just any prayer, but to “effectual and fervent” prayer; to the kind of prayer in which weeping may
continue for the night, but “joy comes in the morning.”  Oh, thank God for the joy; that wonderful joy of
the Lord that IS our strength!

I often hear people speak of the sovereignty of God, but many of them, speaking without the wisdom
of God on the matter, use God’s sovereignty as a means to avoid their own responsibility to exercise
and live in the authority and ability the Lord has given them.   Yes!  God IS sovereign, and in His
sovereignty, He has delegated a certain level of authority, and with it responsibility, to us, and has
equipped us with the power to exercise that authority by faith in the Name of Jesus.  So frequently I
have heard people to ask the Lord to exercise authority over devils, when Jesus has in fact given that
assignment with it requisite authority to the church, His body in the earth.

And so much of that responsibility, authority, and ability should be, and in fact, must be, exercised in
the arena of prayer.  Whether it be in private in one’s prayer closet, or with one or two close partners
in an intimate prayer of agreement, or in a broader public setting of a corporate prayer meeting of an
entire body of believers, our prayers need to be a spiritual exercise of our God-commanded
responsibility, God-given authority in the Name of Jesus, and the God-endued power of the Spirit,
direct and to the point; that point being the AMEN!  Or the SO BE IT!
