Leading the Way by Following Christ
The Second Miler

Matthew 10:32 - Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will
I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

While I could wish that all believers everywhere were living holy, and calling on the
Lord out of a pure heart, walking in faith and in favor, filled with Holy Ghost, led by
the Spirit, and producing daily a living witness of the deep, rich, and supernatural
power of God, we all know that such is not the case. Sadly there are those who
name the Name of Jesus as their Lord, but their life and witness fall far short of the
mark of holiness, and as such, bring great reproach upon the Lord, His kingdom, His
church, and those who do endeavor to follow Him in holiness.
But for every person the naysayer will point out that fails to follow hard after the Lord,
there is one or more who DOES follow hard after Jesus. For every failure to follow
Christ, there is the wonderful success whose testimony is true. Sadly, however, the
world, and in particular the religious community, chooses to keep their focus on the
failures and not the successes in faith. But the Lord’s true measure is in NO way
seen in the failures, but in those who walk closest to Him, who hear His voice, who
obey Him, who fulfill His will, who speak His Words, who work His works, who imitate
Him wholly. Do yourself a great favor, find such a person, and consider him/her
when considering the kingdom of God.
Name any failure to follow Christ that you will, and I will still stand tall and be greatly
honored to speak of Savanarola, Whitefield, Grimsley, Finney, Moody, Bounds,
Seymour, or Sunday. Speak all you will of those who have turned back from following
the Lord, and I will yet follow hard in the steps of those who have refused to turn
back; Price, Wigglesworth, Roberts, Hagin, and Ravenhill. Bring it closer to home
and name those you know personally, and I, too, shall name some personally known
to me who will eclipse any shortcomer. Hutchins, Cook, Cookman, Jones, and
Roseman; names of men I knew well. I will follow where they followed, for their
Leader is Jesus, Lord, and king, and He is my Leader, too.
